The MBA Initiative enables the Women's MBA Network to mentor and support collaborative efforts led by female MBA students from Philadelphia-area business schools, including the Wharton School, Drexel University's LeBow College of Business, La Salle University School of Business, Villanova School of Business and Temple University Fox School of Business.
The MBA Initiative coordinates approximately two collaborative events per academic year. Event topics are driven by student interest, and the Women's MBA Network leverages its network, expertise, and resources in support of such events.
The student initiative has been the catalyst for an amazing alliance among all of the school-based Women MBA student organizations in the Philadelphia Metro Area. Through this initiative we have been able to collaborate in creating networking and professional development events that cater to all of the representative students unique and common needs. The Women's MBA Network has been instrumental in supporting us with professional level support and encouragement in all of our endeavors. The mentoring and networking that has been facilitated through this relationship has been invaluable to myself and the general body of LAWMBA (LaSalle Association of Women MBAs).

On Saturday, May 2, 2009, The Women's MBA Network-MBA Initiative hosted its 1st Golf Outing and Networking Lunch at JC Melrose Country Club. This event was in collaboration with the following local universities: Drexel Women In Business, Wharton Women In Business, Villanova Women In Business, and La Salle University Part Time MBA Program.
Despite the rain, the mood of the event was very upbeat and positive. The event consisted of a morning and afternoon golf clinic session which covered basic swing principles reviewing: Grip, Posture Balance, Weight Transfer, Basic Swing Theory, Putting and Chipping. Over 40 women attended the golf clinics and 15 women participated in the Afternoon Game of 9 Holes. All the women gathered together for networking lunch which provided a great opportunity for them to get to know each other, exchange ideas, get connected, and learn more about the Women's MBA Network and the MBA Initiative. We look forward to working with these schools in the upcoming school year and hosting other events that provide networking opportunities for the women at area MBA programs that meet their professional development objectives.
